Last of Day One

Another repeat of a shot I posted right before the construction. This is the pavement at the SW corner seeing daylight for the first time since September 2005. Those of you going to Meet The Candidates sessions ... be sure to ask Jones what he was thinking when he screwed this up so badly. Or not thinking, more like.

Parkville's First Residental Loading Dock

Taken from the east edge of my place. You ever seen a more poorly-designed structure? How hard would it have been to dig this garage deeper into his own property? Just think, Platte County Voters, you can have this sort of planning and foresight on the County Commission!

Reconstruction Day One

Weather was brilliant today, just perfect for correcting the long overdue alley changes. Compare this pic to the one below of the same shot. You can click on each photo and make way bigger.

One last "before" pic

A picture taken from the 5th St. entrance, looking west. Nice spring colors. But note how that genius Jeff Jones tilted his illegal alley changes to make sure we'd have water runoff issues. You can see the alley's 'horizon' contrasted with the background.

Another view

This is a ground level shot I took today. Now that I look at it, I realize it'd been better if I'd stuck a ruler into the ground before taking it but you can get the idea well-enough. The concrete directly in front is the level that the alley in the rear will be reduced to after the work's done. While you can't tell exactly from this picture just how many inches that'll be, you can see just how high up the garage will be over the alley. The other two bays will be up higher. Click on the picture-that's the best way to see it in full glory.

A new picture

This is the garage with the concrete removed. I couldn't get this new picture until recently because they'd left a truck parked there for several months.

Even more progress

I'm told the contract for the work's been signed and money put into escrow. The alley will be reduced to the original level-the same height as the paved portion at the SW corner of this house. I'll try to get some pictures up in the next day or so of just how high the alley is up over that same corner now.

Pray for no rain Sunday or Monday so this can be done.
